Re: where have all the 73's gone??

I got an Early 73 Super Custom 2500 3/4 4x4 on 19.5 Military Skinnies. I just finished giving her a break job, and a few new part. Just gotta get new floor boards/ inner outer rocker panels. mine you can spit dip out and watch it hit the ground. Other then that she is a beast with that original 350 v8. The Big Green. well more like a rattle can olive green is the 79 Jimmy with an 87 Suburban Face Lift.

You all say that Supers are rare. Would it be considered a Super Custom? Well here is my work truck. Super Custom 2500 3/4 Ton 4x4 with 5th wheel hitch built into the frame. its spent most of its life in Randle, Wa where I bought it from Original Owner. I just put new spark plugs, alternator, starter, carb, rpm, NP205 transfer case, Fuel Pump, rear drum breaks, Oil and a bunch of other parts into her. Found a company here in WA where I can buy the Floor Boards/Inner/Outer Rocker Panels for only $185.00. Fall is coming and I wanna stay dry. Bad problem cant get it started. It was sitting in a field for the past 5 years, with old gas in the motor and tanks. I grew up looking at this truck and I bought it this summer. Found out that someone used fiberglass on the inside to cover up the rust. :/ It did hurt my feelings but when i am done with this guys I hope yall love her as much as I do. I am planning on giving this to my son when he become of age.

Re: where have all the 73's gone??

thats a sweet dually man. great looking truck. it sucks here in portland oregon the truck has to be a 74 or 75 and older to not have to worry about deq and you can swap what ever engines you want into them. Im currently looking to sell my 79 and buying a 73 or 74 4x4.

Re: where have all the 73's gone??

my 73 is a 4x2 & 4x4, But I have 285/75R16 tires that are going on my 73. The only problem is I can't find 4 R16 for the 73, So I am stuck driving these skinnies. But these 19.5 skinnies have been on this truck for maybe 10 years, and never have been changed. I thought they looked kinda worn out but I was wrong the other day, they still grip nicely. another reason why I bought another 14 tires for the 19.5 with 85% tread. I may keep these for the snow. At the moment I am working on the fuel pump on the 73, I bought it cash and it had 5 year old gas in the tanks. For some odd reason this 73 has 3 fuel tanks. Two 22.gal Saddle tanks and One 15.gal behind the rear axle. Has anyone ever seen something like this before?

Here's my 74. One very small spot of rust and that's it. Constantly being asked if I want to sell it. No way!!

Re: where have all the 73's gone??

I bought my 74 step here in Calif but I am not sure if it spent its hole life here. Due to rust I replaced both doors, both floor pans, both rockers, both inner rockers, one footwell kick panel, both cab corners, one front fender (the other had been replaced due to an accident), both inner fenders and the radiator support. I also had to repair rust around the front windshield and rear window. Truck is painted now and starting to go back together.....can't wait!

Re: where have all the 73's gone??

A few months ago on ebay there was a 73. It was a green color (think 70s green) with a factory 307. It was decently clean too.
