4,5 or 6 speed autos that fit 292?

I've been searching but I can't seem to find anyone who has a 4 5 or 6 speed auto with a 292. I would like the auto (wife can't drive stick) but would like a decent cruising ratio/ gas mileage.

Anyone know of any general bolt on ones or ones with minor modifications to fit?

Re: 4,5 or 6 speed autos that fit 292?

Any transmission that will bolt up to a 230/250 I6, 90 degree V6 (4.3 is most common) small block or big block will bolt up to your 292. The bellhousing bolt pattern is all the same. Depending on which trans and torque converter you go with the flexplate may require some effort to find, but they are available. IMO the simpliest OD auto to use would be the 700R4. However connecting the TV vable may prove to be a little challengine on the 292. Although I know it has been done. The 4L60E, 4L65E, 4L80E, 6L80E, etc, all are electronically controlled, and require a controller to operate.
