Chopped top on a burb
I know there are some very nice suburban projects going on. Many have some major sheetmetal mods, like Hart Robs and Frizzles. But I've never seen one with a chopped top. I always thought the roof line was kinda high on these burbs and was wondering if anyone had pics or even photoshopped pics of burbs with a flatter roof or chopped top or any other roof line mods.

Re: Chopped top on a burb
I'm not on my home PC right now, but that green/silver one that was in the pics behind the tan/white crewcab had the dome chopped.

Anyone else see it or know where it went?

Re: Chopped top on a burb
That thing has a ton of mods. I'm not sure if they flattened the whole roof, or sloped it from the front. Looks like a little chop and they cut a couple inches from the bottom too. Very interesting.

Re: Chopped top on a burb
I'd be interested in seeing more of a flat-top Suburban. Not an actual chop-top, but just flattening out the crown in the roof, so it's got a flat top more like later model Suburbans. The trick is the rear hatch or barn doors.
Anyone ever seen this done? |

I will be using the original roof. I want to keep as much of the original metal as possible, so I will be doing relief cuts (similar to this) As for the lift gate, I plan on doing a "chop" there. I think there is a slight ambulance look to the rear as stock. I will position the window where I think it looks best. I amateur photo-shopped a picture I pulled off eBay a few years ago. This is a 2wd, but I just wanted a profile pic to play with. I stretched the rear doors in the photo, but I don't want to do that any more. I may or may not do the kick-in on the rear...
