1995 Chevy 350 Intake Replacment

Hello my 1995 Chevrolet K1500 with the 5.7 V8 has developed a coolant leak and needs the intake manifold gasket replaced. I am researching what parts I will need so they will be ready for the mechanic. I think im going to buy a new intake manifold. I was planning on getting the edelbrock performer #3704 A while back I had a problem with the heater hose quick disconnect threads breaking off and getting stuck into the intake and I messed up the threads for the heater hose in the intake. Since the intake gasket is leaking I figure now is the time to do it right and replace the whole intake manifold. Below is a list of parts I am planning to buy for the job. Please let me know your opinions or if I forgot anything.

Edelbrock Preformer TBI Intake Manifold #3704

Victor Reniz Intake Manifold Gasket #MS15401

Dorman OE Heater Hose Connector #800-402

Murray Ultra Thermostat #15359

Murray Thermostat Gasket #22820

4.5 Gallons Anti Freeze

Re: 1995 Chevy 350 Intake Replacment

Is this going to be the first performance mod or has anything else been done already, like cold air intake, headers & exhaust, cam, any ignition mods, anything?

What are your plans for the truck? How do you use it?

No other performance mods have been done and I am planning on keeping everything else stock.
Just figured since the threads in the original intake were all messed up I would take the opportunity to upgrade to something new and better.
I use the truck as my daily driver and am just looking for something reliable.

Re: 1995 Chevy 350 Intake Replacment

I've run that intake on three different tbi 350 trucks. It's a nice swap and makes a noticeable improvement in power by itself.

You'll also need a tube of silicone to run along the ends of the intake if the Victor gasket set doesn't include one. I haven't used many Victors sets as I'm a Felrpo man so I'm not sure if they include it. Only other thing I'd offer is that I'd step up from the Murray (O Reilly brand) parts to a better brand. Stant thermostat and either Victor or FelPro gasket for thermostat.

The Dorman fitting is much better quality than the original pot metal one that's already given you problems. You'll be happy with it.

Only caveat is that the Edelbrock intake is a bit taller than stock so you have to loosen the clamps on the two fuel lines where they come up the back of the engine and tug them up a little bit to help them reach the now higher throttle body. It's nothing to worry about though so don't sweat it. When you try to thread them back into place if they don't readily reach, just loosen and get some slack to allow it.

If you have the money go ahead and change the cam. Comp has a nice little oe style roller that will bolt right in your block that works great with TBI. 08-500-8

Re: 1995 Chevy 350 Intake Replacment

Thanks for the recommendations. That list was just from the first auto parts website I used to research. I was looking at NAPA and they have the intake cheaper along with felpro gaskets and stant thermostats so I will probally order parts there.
I will make sure to add egr and tbi gaskets to the list.
Thank You for the help.

Cheapest place to get the intake. Free shipping. The price you see is the to-your-door price.

Re: 1995 Chevy 350 Intake Replacment

why not run a 4bbl intake and buy the carb to tbi adapter plate, it'd be tons cheaper then the edelbrock intake.
