Hello everyone, I am thinking of painting my 1970 cst swb white dark blue white 2 tone with a sandlewood interior. Does anyone own a cst with this color scheme. If so please post some pictures of the truck and its spid label.. It would greatly be appreciated. thanks

Re: 1970 cst dark blue exterior

The code 592 special two-tone looks really good on these trucks.
It consists of code 508 Dark Blue Poly (Ditzler 2169) body color and 521 White (Ditzler 2185) roof and below the rockers. It included the cab paint divider trim, however it also required the BX2 lower bodyside molding, but that was part of the CST trim.
Member Davepl has a very nice 70 Sierra Grande he is restoring with that paint code. Here are an original period and a just before restoration pictures. You keep asking for SPID label information, what exactly are you wanting for information?

What I mean by spid label is the glove box label with the paint rpo numbers for this color combination.

Doing a color change?
592 is the "Special Two-Tone" color code for a 508/521/508 truck. It is the darkest blue offered in that combination in 1970. The code itself is consistant, but the descriptions change somewhat between assembly plants and years. Common variations are WHITE & DK BLUE & WHITE or WHITE/DK BLUE/WHITE

OK, apparently you are missing the point. No matter what someone else has, if it is from a different plant or even a widely seperated serial number the description may be different. I posted two of the common description variations but there are others. What assembly plant and serial number range (say nearest thousand if you prefer) are we talking her for you. Even you don't have a SPID at all both of those are found on the door data plate. There are not a lot of 592 SPID in my collection but a very close estimate can be made for a specific unit in most cases.

Here is a clip from the GMC above. It shows the correct format for an early 1970 (probably late 69) built "Z" Fremont CA truck. Both "S" St. Louis and "B" Baltimore are different as examples.

More importantly, Welcome to the Board!

Here is Davepl's build thread with post paint pictures. It shows the dark blue poly to good effect.
