Nitrous Users
Where are you guys mounting your bottles? I was thinking about putting in race seats and mounting the bottle in between the 2 seats but I dont know if that is allowed at the race track.

Re: Nitrous Users
Mine is mounted in the box,on the left, battery is on the right fuel cell in the middle. You can mount it inside but must have a pressure relief valve vented to outside of vehicle.Something about sitting next to 900lbs/sq in just never sat well with me,kinda like the gas tank behind the seat lol

Re: Nitrous Users
In the camaro I have my bottle mounted in between the rear seats so I can just reach back and open/close it from the driver seat. To be legal you must have a burst disk in the valve with a blow-down mechanism venting outside the vehicle. I used -8an braided line from the burst disk to a bulkhead fitting in the floor.

Re: Nitrous Users
Yeah, thats why I want to mount it in between the seats; it would be easy to reach down to open/close it.

Re: Nitrous Users
Haaaha I can't resist. Talking about the gas tank in teh cab behind the seat, and the N2o bottle inside the cab... reminded me of a cartoon a buddy sent me some time back.
enjoy... Oh, the rules dictate a blow-off vented outside the cabin like already said. The non medical grade N2o has a .2% (as I recell) sulfer-dioxide to keep the kids from huffing the stuff. Believe me, ,,, A release inside the cabin will DEFINATELY take your breath away. Your not going to get knocked out from the N20, because you are NOT going to breathe. Not the only problem. The cloud of gasous N2o fills the cabin and you can't see the windshield, let alone where your at on the track. Definately don't try to cut corners there. If it's inside, get the blow-down kit that is built for your bottle. N2o isn't explosive and I really don't think a rupture inside the cabin is going to cause any physical injury. 900psi is going to drop REAL quick as the rupture let's pressure / liquid out. It's the not being able to breathe or see at 100+ mph that's gonna kill you. IMO remote bottle valves and purge kits ought to be SOP in a N2o boosted machine. It sure makes things 'easy'

Re: Nitrous Users
That cartoon was great.
I definitely won't cut any corners when it comes to safety of myself & others. Thanks for the info. I will make sure I do my home work before hooking up anything. My neighbor was a nitrous guy (switched to a blower) and said he would help me set up my system when I get to that point. |

Re: Nitrous Users
I had 2 bottles on the driverside behind the wheel well . As Marv stated this stuff will choke you down . I had my hoses made to fit the truck . When they crimped the end of the main feed line the mashed it to hard . It broke off at the flare in the bed . I didn't have a back window in the truck at the time and the wind was bringing the cloud in the cab . Got the windows rolled down quick and emptied the bottle before the 1/8th mile .

Re: Nitrous Users
its easier to put it in the bed and just use a remote bottle opener.

Re: Nitrous Users
Mines in the bed next to the battery in front of my cell. I have a remote bottle opener. Just remember that you need as much weight in the rear as you can get.

Re: Nitrous Users
Do yourself a favor and run a outside vent tube on the blowoff disc.
