Are the antennas any good???

I just installed my Alpine stereo in my 73 and hooked up the antenna wire I found under the dash. The reception for the radio was not great and would cut in and out. I stopped for gas and when I restarted the truck the tuner was just static. The antenna was still plugged in and everything else on the stereo worked.....CD, Bluetooth, etc.

Since I don't see an external antenna I can only assume it is in the front windshield. Anything else I need to check?

Make sure the antenna is still connected to the button on the bottom of the windshield. It could have came loose.

i bought a $10 autozone antenna and mounted my it under the truck
works fine

Was it one of those powered antennas?

Re: Are the antennas any good???

So it turns out that I had the wrong antenna plugged in. The PO at some point must have had an aftermarket antenna. I grabbed the wire under the dash and plugged it in without tracing it back. It was cut and ran to nothing.

I found the one that runs to the windshield and now it works great.
