It is home!
With mixed emotions I brought home my '70 and '64 today.
My friend Jimmy that gave me both trucks has been in poor health for some time. Last week he got very sick and his wife took him to the ER. He had pneumonia. That Monday Two weeks ago the Doctors discovered he was eat up with lung cancer and bone cancer and found an aneurism in his lower abdomen. They did surgery Monday morning to fix the aneurism but he has not recovered. Unfortunately he is not expected to make the night. I bought the trucks home today under request from him that I have them before he passes. So, YES I am so excited to have my '70 and '64 at home, but I am also sad at the loss of a kindred spirit. I did have the privilege of Baptizing him last year in the Lord. (I am a Preacher). So I am also excited to see another Saint being called home. Jimmy, You will be missed, but your trucks will live on. Gentlemen, I introduce Peggy (the '70) and Jimmy (the '64).

Re: It is home!
So sorry to hear about your friend. As you definitely know, he will be in a better place soon. I'm sure he'll look down and love to see you tickering with those old trucks. That '70 looks all there and pretty decent.

Re: It is home!
Thank you 67....Both trucks are complete. About 10 years ago, before he was injured in an accident he had started restoring the '64. The front clip was sitting in his shop in primer. The '70 had been sitting in that spot since 1986.

Re: It is home!
Maybe when you get them restored the trucks can sport something to memorialize Jimmy on the glove box or somewhere. Heartfelt story behind the trucks, it makes them that much more special.

Not only are you granting one of his wishes, you also played a part in him following our Lord and Savior!

Re: It is home!
Thanks guys This board and its members are awesome!
Jimmy passed last night just before midnight. He was more attached to the '64 that is why its name will be Jimmy. I ask him the other day what color he wanted to paint it and he said Pearl White like the newer Cadillac Silvery-Pearl White. I think I will get it running first... just get it on the road for now. We also talked about my plans for the '70 and he liked the idea of Hugger Orange and LS power. Amazing Grace, How Sweet the sound! I know Jimmy is not hurting and he is praising our Lord!

Re: It is home!
oh wow, that's a tough pill to swallow. congrats on the trucks but at what a price. it would have been nice to get the 64 earlier so that you had time to fix it up before he passed. but at least you were there for him at the end and that was one his final memories, just as the truck will remind you of him for years to come. good luck on the builds, condolences and congratulations

Re: It is home!
I can hardly find words, so glad you were there for him and that you get to finish his trucks, will mean a lot to you when done and cruising. Thankful you were there to guide him home. If we all had a friend like that, he was and is a lucky man.

Re: It is home!
The real awesome part of this is that you had a share in his salvation. Getting the trucks is just a sidebar. We all need to remember that he who dies with the most toys, still dies.

Re: It is home!
Well, yesterday I learned that Jimmy's grandson was wanting the '64 stepper to fix up. I think this afternoon I am going to offer him that truck. I really like the 64 but, I have far to many projects and if his grandson wants it, I think it would be better in his hands than mine. I charrish the truck because of my friendship with Jimmy and that he gave it to me. His grandson will charrish it more than I ever could.

Re: It is home!
Jimmy's Grandson decided to take the truck.
I'm glad that he did, I look forward to seeing a new generation (17)cruising around town in his Grandpa's 50 year old truck.
