Z48 ad
I just added one more project to to do list. I have a solid 5 window that I was going to put on a S-10 chassis. That was until I came across the oportunity to buy the power train out of a 2012 camero with 4 miles on it. So I now have a 323 hp alum V6 with a 6 speed automatic along with the rear end assy from a V8 car which is larger and has posi. My first thoughts were to use a C-6 corvette front end but I changed my mind and went for the matching unit from the camero. I had hoped to get the performance Brembo brake package from the SS but the wrecker I deal with had already sold the front end that came with the rear end I already purchased. I also ordered the 20"wheel and tire package.
The camero track is wider than the truck so the fenders will need to be widened.

Re: Z48 ad
There hasn't been any progress lately, I've been pretty busy with a barn renovation that must be finished tomorrow. I have a 48 GMC on a S-10 chassis that I need to make into a runner and sell to finance the 5 window which I hope will be a keeper. I hope to take the 5 window body off the frame and put it on a dolly or rotisserie so I can do some of the metalwork and patch panels at the same time.

Re: Z48 ad
You could change the track width like I did.

Re: Z48 ad
That's interesting, I hadn't noticed that the diff was offset to one side like that.
The bigger problem I think would be with the front suspension. I'd like to replace the front strut with corvette upper control arms. I know it can be done on the cadillac CTSV I'm hoping the camero is close enough to do the same.

Re: Z48 ad
The shop is progressing nicely, my son and a friend will be here today to help sheet the ceiling. The hard part will be finding a place to put the stuff that has been building up in the shop so we can break up the old floor and place new concrete. The plan is to have in floor heating.

Re: Z48 ad
Oh, to have in-floor heat would be soooo nice. We're covered in ice now. Hope you get it up and running soon.

Re: Z48 ad
My son and I managed to get four rows of plywood up today. I had a bit of excitement when the scafolding I was on tipped with me on it and I rode it down eight feet. We are now past the section of dirt floor and will be over concrete for most of the remaining area. After we finish the ceiling the old floor needs to be broken out. I probably won't get a chance to get the floor done until may.
