66 GMC 3/4 - Want to convert to 5-lug. Options?
Hey all!
Just managed to buy my high school/college ride back seven years after selling it and not having any idea what happened to it. It randomly came up on Craigslist a week ago, and I emailed that night and two days later it was sitting back in my garage. It's almost exactly the same as the day I sold it, so it's a good opportunity for me to keep going with the project I had started as a broke high school student. One of the things I always wanted to do was convert it over to a 5-lug pattern to give me more brake and wheel options. I'd really like to get it on to disc brakes (especially in the front but rear would be nice too) and to have a wider range of rims available, as I just can't find an 8-lug rim I'm super keen on. I'm not doing any hauling or towing, so not sure I need the strength of an 8-lug. Anyone sell a kit for this conversion, or know the best way to convert it over without buying a whole donor? I don't have an interest in storing a second vehicle, nor do I have the space. I don't have a welder, but have access to one, but if there is anything bolt-in with minimal fab, I'd be in favor of that approach. Thanks all! |

Check out Early Classic Enterprises. Their website has a tech article called "Dropping the Big Ship". You might find that interesting.
