Re: 1967 Gmc. Thoughts?

In Calif, if the previous owner didn't put it on an official non-operational status then each and every past years fees are due to get it re-registered.

sheww guys I tell you I really did not know this about these back fees in cali , dang , here in va even IF some type of fee or tax got backed up it backs up on the OWNER not the vehicle like say we have property tax and if you don't pay them they can back up on YOU but if you owe back taxes you can still sell your car or truck and the new owner is free and clear ,,,

Yeah, if you are lazy or stupid and don't pay the non operational fee when you park it, late fees stack up. It costs $10 (maybe $15 now) and it suspends it in the system. It's not like a hidden fee or anything...it's printed on EVERY single registration renewal form. You check one of two boxes: pay registration, or pay non op. very straightforward. But people don't do it and this is what happens. Their irresponsibility is my oppurtunity. I have bought trucks with enormous fees due, and parted them out to fund my project. If you are an out of state buyer you have a big advantage...buy it here and register it in your state. I have a 76 CJ 5 that I put on non op 13 years ago. I paid $10. Every year I get a renewal form. If I want to register and drive it I pay $43 and get my tags. If I dont want to drive it, I don't I do anything, and it sits. A one time fee of $10...that's it. Pretty simple huh?

Were these fees just for the title or to register it? My DMV won't allow me to get a Nebraska title on it without the seller's California title. I have a 67 GMC 4X4 here that I originally planned on putting the box and front clip of the California truck on but I almost hate to part out such a nice original truck.

I believe to register it and get the title, if you have the vin you could call the dmv in California just to confirm I suppose.

Very nice! Dana 44 rear axle, too. Similar to mine but a 1500.
