City selling Fire Trucks

I am hoping this won't run contrary to the rules. It is not my ad. Someone in the local paper selling the following:

1947 GMC Fire Truck formerly owned by the City of Berryville, ARK 15K miles 5 window cab excellent body, runs good $3500

1946 Ford Pickup $2500

1947 Ford Pickup $1500

1953 Studebaker Pickup $3500

870-715-9823

I want to reiterate I am not affiliated with this in any way. Just thought someone might be interested (primarily in the GMC). This ad was in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette Sunday Classified (Antique Vehicles).

Sorry Moderators if I am in violation.....

All of those sound cool.

I think a link to the ad would be better and not look like a classified.

Re: City selling Fire Trucks

It looks like those adds get moved down the page as new adds get posted and get bumped off the page when the add runs out. The fire truck sounds interesting but a guy really has to want a fire truck to pay extra for the fire truck stuff.

I'm not at all looking for another project now, but I'd like to see the three pickups. I wonder what shape they're in.

Re: City selling Fire Trucks

Going to look at the fire truck today. Looking for a setup to tow my 68 airstream and haul a small car on flatbed. Might be the deal. Only 2 hours away.

Re: City selling Fire Trucks

Well, looked at it. It's in very good shape, engine runs , starts with ether. No leaks but oil pan is covered with oil. No breaks. Master cylinder was dry. Filled, still no breaks. Anybody know what a GMC 450 weighs,is this a 11/2 ton or 2 ton? Still has the pump and firemans racks on back. Pics to follow. Anybody know if break parts available anywhere.

Re: City selling Fire Trucks

Yes. It's in nice shape, newer tires. Just can't find anywhere that has brake parts for it. I would have bought it if it had been in my town. His friend wanted 400$ to deliver 2 hrs away. My trailer isn't qualified for the weight.

Re: City selling Fire Trucks

It's sitting In my driveway now. Just drove it for half and hour around the mountain top. Bled the Hydravac brake system and charged the battery over night. Brakes are unbelievably good. Only got it to 40 mph, but they stop very well.

Re: City selling Fire Trucks

Oh yeh. All I did was flushed the system and vacuum bled them. They put my neighbor in the dash and A little white car that I didn't know was behind me almost under the back deck of a rear bumper. Locked up and left rubber on the ground. I was real surprised how good they work. I picked up a rebuild kit I ordered from NAPA today for the master cylinder. It's dripping a little bit.

Re: City selling Fire Trucks

Nice truck, you will enjoy it and you will become the best friend of every kid in the neighborhood. I've had several and just watch out. Just like the potato chip ad, you can't have just one. Most who get into the fire truck hobby soon have a fleet. One of my friends has 23 at last count. PM sent....

Re: City selling Fire Trucks

Yeh, ran into town for gas yesterday. The first car that pulls in , kid gets out and says" I like your truck, that's neat" . Just smiled and said I like it too. Lots of people in the neighborhood stop and check it out when I'm out test driving it. But this is gonna be it. Only one. Its a little bigger than what I was looking for in a flat bed work truck. Gonna try and keep the firetruck sides and running boards. Seeing if I can lower the hose deck on top to haul a small car on it. Thanks all. Jim
