What type of socket do I need here?

So I caught a break today in my schedule and I decided to remove the radiator. Getting the brackets off was a breeze but these two guys....I can't find a socket that fits! I assume it's a special bolt of some kind....what sort of socket do I need here?

Re: What type of socket do I need here?

All you need is a twelve point socket. Most bolts you see will be six point. That is six flats with six points to drive off. However there are also twelve points that have twelve points to drive off. These will not fit in a six point socket correctly.

Those are 12 point flange head bolts. Any 12 point socket will work.

7/16s. Also, most combo box & opened end wrenches are 12 point on the box end.

Cool Re: What type of socket do I need here?

Don't use channel locks if at all possible. Only as a last resort. Correct tool for the correct application. 12 point socket are box end.
U can change them out though once u get them out.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: What type of socket do I need here?

Please don't use Channel Locks. You can buy a cheap wrench anywhere for under 5 bucks. Just look for a box end that's 12 point, which is a majority of them.

Re: What type of socket do I need here?

Oh no, I know better than to bugger up a bolt by using the wrong tool. I used the box wrench and they came off just like the man said. BUT it seems my core support is pretty rusty.....I will join the site as a paying member so I can put out a want ad for a rust-free core support.

I'd rather stay with OEM if possible since I fear a repo won't fit quite right.
