Lug nuts
Hey guys, I'm new around, I have a 1970 Custom/20 Deluxe, med olive green, 350 cid, long bed. I live in a small city near Mexico city and I really need to tell you there's nothing much around here when we talk about truck enthusiasts. I have a lot of doubts about my truck and I hope you can help me dissipate some of them. The first one is: Though the emblems on the fenders read C/20, the vin number says my truck is a half ton. But it has a 6 lug nuts pattern, what exactly does this mean?? My truck is a 1/2 ton?? is it a 3/4?? did the guy who owned before me change the emblems?? thanks for your answers!!

6 lugs, 1967-70 truck = 1/2 ton. 71-72 1/2 ton use disc brakes from factory and are 5 lug. All 3/4 ton trucks have 8 lug. Welcome to the forum!

After 40+ years it's hard telling what has happened. Could be a glove box door swap, front clip swap, cab swap, emblem swap, ..................You'll have to gather evidence and try to make a determination on what you have. Look for the VIN stamp on the frame, does it match the SPID, and VIN plate? Do the number of lugs match front to back? Coil or leaf in rear? It's all fun!

Ok, everything matches, spid, vin on the door sill, and vin on the frame. it has 6 lug nuts both front and rear end. it has coil springs and it's lwb. yes it is fun, I'm trying to find everything I can about that truck. Btw the spid doesn't say much, I'll post a picture of it later.

I really don't care if it's a 1/2 or a 3/4 ton truck, I just wanted to know. So far, as a conclusion, if the truck is a pre '71 and has 6 lug nuts it is a 1/2 ton. the only loose end is the c/20 emblem. But I think I can live with it. Thanks guys, never thought I get so many answers for such a silly question. It's nice to have a place where I can talk to other people who share the love for their trucks

it was assembled at the Fremont plant, wherever it is. Mexican trucks are way behind in quality and equipment. here you couldn't have bought a v8 truck, you had no options for bed length, wooden bed whether you wanted it or not. no tailgate locking mechanism, the back up lights where within the tail lamps. the cabs are pretty much the same but there was no option for instruments, idiot lights were the only way to go.

Fremont is (was) a California plant. As to your C/20 emblem, the front fenders -- possibly the entire front clip -- could have been replaced. A lot can happen to these trucks in 40+ years.

I've noticed there was some damage to the front end of the truck, the bumper brackets were a little bit crooked and the aluminum grill has 69 chevy written on it. so I guess they probably swapped the entire front clip. Theres no way to know...
