V8 to 96 4x4 ex cab LS S10 questions
We have a 96 w/4.3 4L60E pushbutton 4x4 and I'm told this can't be done but....
As the 4.3 is getting blowby and low oil psi, we tow with this thing, I have a 96 vortec 350 that is .030 over but needs a crank kit complete with ECM, a fresh large journal 327 crank w/bearings and Mahle .030 pistons/rings, why not put this all together and make a 327 vortec to replace the 4.3 seeing they are both the same yr, similar efi system with the oil pan, mounts and shorty headers it should be easy, right? Local people say either oil pan cannot fit the 4x4, S10 trans will not work with the 96 K1500 ecm or that the torsion bars won't handle the extra weight of the V8 and will snap shortly. I can find another 4.3 with ease if I want. Anyone know more about this or any thoughts? |
