67-72 front clip interchangability?
Thanks to a drunk my 67 is now in need of an entire new clip. Due to time constraints and being in the middle of a move I need this truck working like now.
I will use this thread as a means to chronical the saga of the front end rebuild. My question for you gentlemen is what exactly is the interchangability of the front ends on these trucks? I was told the 67-72 gmc front fenders were the same as 67&68 fenders. Is this correct? Can I use will the front clip from a 67-72 gmc bolt right up? Will a gmc hood work with 67/68 front c10 fenders? My local junkyard has several options. I just want to pull the panels in the best shape. Here is the starting point: Thanks guys! 67-72 gmc fenders are the same but the 69-72 gmc hood is the same as the 69-72 chevy hood but u can swap the entire clip from the gmc to your truck if that helps any

Re: 67-72 front clip interchangability?
fenders:
67 chevy = 67 gmc 68 chevy = 68 72 gmc 69 72 chevy = nothing in gmc 67 chevy/gmc or 68 chevy 69 72 will work for 67 68 chevy front clip. 69 72 chevy will work for 69 72 chevy grille 67/68 chevy hood = 67/68 gmc hood 69 72 chevy hood = 69 72 gmc hood 67 68 chevy radiator support doesnt match or work with any other grilles you can cut off the headlight buckets that are welded in front of the head light holes of a gmc or 69 72 chevy radiator support to have a quick fix. but you wont be able to mount the splash apron like a 67 68 radiator support has the little nuts built in. |

Re: 67-72 front clip interchangability?
The short answer is no. It would take serious modification involving cutting and welding.

Re: 67-72 front clip interchangability?
Low & Slow what do you want to end up with? Do you want it to look like it did before your accident? Do you just want solid metal with no concern for the year and style? What are your skills?
1967 fenders are an animal of their own because of the lack of marker lights. If you get a 68 Chevy or GMC or the 69-72 GMC fenders they will work the your hood and grille but you will have to weld the marker light hole shut. You can pull any 67-72 front clip whole and it will bolt up to your truck.

Re: 67-72 front clip interchangability?
Basically I want the first now rotted front end I can find. I don't mind the markers in the fenders at all, the problem is finding a complete front from one three options, GMC, 67-68 C10, or 69-72 C10.
I can pick up a 71 set of fenders, hood, and billet grille for $250 but need to then find the rad support and the headlight brackets. Or a complete GMC front end with some minor rot in the lower finder corners for $200. But I would have to pull it all off in the junkyard by myself. The search continues! |

Re: 67-72 front clip interchangability?
So GMC Paul's has GMC radiator supports in stock. If I end up buyin this 69 C/10 I want to buy.... I want 4 headlights. What do I need for the GMC swap? 68 Chevy fenders, the radiator support, splash apron, wire, grille, lights (head and turn), bumper, tailgate...
Do I have it all?
