Re: Mufflers??????
That's like asking what the best tasting beer is. Too many different opinions.
Some hate Flowmasters... I personally love them and have 40 series on my rig. Gary

Re: Mufflers??????
How do you know what they're going to sound like? I'm getting a bit older now and I am starting to think that a quieter truck would be nice...

Re: Mufflers??????
Hooker Aerochamber Mufflers. THE BEST Muffler on the planet, PERIOD!! I have mine in Stainless Steel so I'll never have to replace them. They Sound just BADASS!!! Believe me, they sound DEEP, THROATY, FULL and when you get on it, It's amazing!!
Jump on youtube and find some videos. http://www.holley.com/types/Aero%20Chamber.asp

Re: Mufflers??????
Gasoline 71 said it right. No way of telling someone that. Personally (and this is ONLY my opinion) I think that a mild 350 is a poor engine to make throaty and mean sounding because it is kinda like a lifted 2 wheel drive. (I love the 350 and think it may be one of if not THE Best engine of all time btw). The truck in my shop on the other hand has a 535 cubic inch big block and it has Flowmaster Super 44s and is very very mean sounding but it also makes over 630 HP. YouTube has a thousand videos of different mufflers on relatively mild 350s that will give you as good of an idea as you can get I would think. I believe Flowmaster for example has a small block on there that they try every muffler that they make on and they demonstrate it.

Re: Mufflers??????
I've heard great things about Borla XS, Dynomax UltraFlo, Super Turbo and DynoMax VT muffler, and the hooker Aero Chambers. But i can't recommend anything as i haven't used them.
That said, i have a Flowmaster 40 on my '99 silverado, short story is; if it wasn't on my truck when i bought it, it never would have been. Sound is ok at WOT, but the drone and gurgle are maddening. |

Re: Mufflers??????
I saw once on Power Block TV where they had installed 4 mufflers.......and a switch controlled which two were in use at the moment. That way one could use the glass packs and annoy everyone around or use the others and be quiet.
Anyone ever see anything like that before? |

Glass packs baby!!!!!!
Preferably with headers and 3 inch pipes so you scare people as you pass them.
