Cab Removal Sequence ?
Can anyone direct me to a post in reference to removing a cab from a frame ?
I have the front clip handled but not sure what else I need to disconnect before I try to lift it off. also any input on installing a low hump cab on a 4x4 frame would be appreciated... Posted via Mobile Device

There is 4 bolts, 2 are 7/8 , 2 are 5/8. disconnect the fuel line and you are good to go.
Once you lift the cab a few inches / foot, check for any lines that are danglin or attached to the chassis. I typically cut off the parking break but if you still need it then remove it from the cab first. |

It's just 4 bolts, but there are a lot of other things connected (steering column, brake box, HVAC, parking brake cable, electrical, and so on). But once all the little things are done, it's an easy lift. Actually fairly light as well, at least compared to what I was expecting (which tells you nothing, I suppose).
I built the cab/bed lift from plans I purchased on the board here, but probably 2-3 guys could lift the cab off. Your experience may vary.

There was a post I saw on here last night where a guy hung two manual chain hoists from the rafters of his garage, lifted the cab up, rolled the chassis clear, then lowered the cab onto a dolly he had built for it with 2x4's and 4 fully castered wheels.

I've seen people pull motors with chain come-alongs wrapped around the garage rafter. Doesn't mean it's a good idea :-)

Cabs don't weigh as much as engines either.
I might would consider scabbing on an extra full length rafter up there just for sure.... |
