Transmission hook up
Hey I'm looking at doing my trans hook up soon it's a 283 with the old 3 speed and I'm putting a floor shifter in, now Ive never done this before and was looking to get some advice. I have an engine cradle I have to modify to hold the whole works but am wondering when you buy clutch components do you go by motor or trans?

Re: Transmission hook up
You need to know flywheel size to determine clutch size. 153 tooth takes a 10". 168 tooth takes an 11". Some flywheels are drilled for both. Usually the 168 is.
If unsure you can measure between the bolt holes and go to a freindly (Napa) dealer and they can match it up. I can't remember that number, sorry! I'll search a bit. Also you need the spline count on your tranny. Likely 10 spline. Don't be cheap and buy a cheap clutch assembly. Napa has ones made by Zoom for 250 bucks. Good quality stuff. |

Re: Transmission hook up
Here's a link about flywheels with bolt patterns.
10" is 11 5/8 between bolt holes. 11" is 12 5/8 between bolt holes. http://www.hemmings.com/hmn/stories/...feature29.html |
