CH465 Speedometer Key Needed!

I need the key between my CH465 tranny and my speedometer gear as shown in this picture. If anyone has one I'll mail them a self-addressed envolope along with a crisp $20.00 bill.

Thanks, Tom

Bump. Anyone? This part appears to be nearly impossible to find new.

Re: CH465 Speedometer Key Needed!

Tom, do you have dimensions off of this piece? We have an old assortment at work and it may have what you need. It appears that the one end is open? Is it a square opening or slotted?

Thanks,
Mark

Re: CH465 Speedometer Key Needed!

Hi Stovebolt.

I don't have the broken key any more. Half of the key mates with the speedometer gear. (You can see where it mates in the new picture) That's the half you see in the original picture. It's about 1/8 inch round with a protruding ridge. The other half mates with the transmission speedometer connection. It's square on that end - the same as a standard speedometer cable. Overall when the key is not broken, it’s about 1.75 to 2 inches long.

I can’t believe that these things are that uncommon. I was able to buy one about 12 years ago from the Chevy dealer here in town but at the time they were phasing this part out. I think I got the last one then. You’d think that any light duty truck with a Ch-465 transmission would have one of these gears and key.

Thanks, Tom

Try these folks. http://www.transmissioncenter.net/sp...n_______va.htm .

I will be real surprised if they don't have exactly what you need...

Re: CH465 Speedometer Key Needed!

Thanks for the lead CaptRMW. I described what I need to them a couple of weeks ago and they don't seem to have it. I do see something that might work with a little modification. That might be an option if I can't scare one up on this thread.

Re: CH465 Speedometer Key Needed!

Tom, the only ones I have like that are only about 1 1/8" long. If that will work for you, pm your address and I will send it to you. I only have one like that. I have others that may be able to be modified as well.

Thanks,
Mark

Re: CH465 Speedometer Key Needed!

I know of a truck with a 4 speed too....in a local yard. Is this a reduction assembly or just for routing purposes? I'll check tomorrow if you havent found one....good luck.
