Re: best upgrade carb 72 350?

I have used both the Q jet and the 1406. I love the Q jet. BUT I got sick and tired of changing out the nytrol floats due to the crap alcohol/gas that we have in Colorado. The float will absorb the gas and set low in the bowl allowing the float level to be too high. I tried adjusting the level multiple times with little luck. The 1406 has not had this issue. The 1406 ran good for me out of the box, but I do miss the secondary strong kick in of the Q jet! I wish we could buy real gasoline that the Q jet loves. Good luck.

Edelbrock for sure I never have had any problems with them. Not really a fan of q jet myself.

1406- but it's kind of a silly question. Do like blondes or brunettes? All personal preference. The 1406 is a tried and true and still in production carb. Set it and forget it. A lot of guys will swear by their Hollys, but the lowest maintenance will likely be the 1406.

Re: best upgrade carb 72 350?

Sduckworth13 thanks for the link! I wonder how these stations get their fuel since some are in emissions test required areas, and most of the fuel in the front range is all delivered by pipeline to the refinery fuel racks where the tankers pick it up. I would hope that these stations are somehow really selling straight gas. I will have to try one of these stations out! It will be a pita since the nearest one is 45 miles from me. Thanks for giving me some hope.
