I was wondering if that was the ID of one bidder. If it was they had a lot of $$$ to spend.

Re: 1958 with 1.3 original miles

There are some people out there who do have more expendable money than they have good sense and the all mighty desire to own something like that truck no matter what the cost.

As far as fixing the roof, if he has the money to pay 140K for the truck he has the money to pay to have it repaired right so that one never knows it was damaged that hadn't seen it before. The value is in the low miles not the damaged roof.

48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six.
71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant.
77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

Re: 1958 with 1.3 original miles

I think they spent WAYYYYYY too much money on most of those. 140,000 on a truck that will need a complete rebuild despite it has 1.3 miles on it? Doesn't make sense. The only thing that will be of value is it will have all of the factory marking on the body and frame from when it went through assembly and quality control. Any marks on the fire wall or frame or from assembly of the engine or trans might still be there. It is truly 100% original but the other part of the value equation is condition condition condition. And frankly the condition sucks. But the upside is if someone will pay that for a vehicle in that condition....think how much more ours are worth all fixed up.

Re: 1958 with 1.3 original miles

not a chance. Even fixed up, If ours were of that value, we wouldn't have them. somebody else would have them.
I have a distinct memory of my truck staring at me from the inside of a compound through a chain link fence for 5 years at least before I got the curiosity enough to go ask for it. It was 13 years old, wrecked, and thrashed.
But I have owned it since 1973. not worth much to anybody but me. I drove it to work for 35 years. I have looked out that windshield opening for probably 45 years.
Nobody who buys it from my widow will care.
It isn't perfect, and I know all of it's faults. The only thing going for it is that it is all there.........and I took care of it the whole time I had it.
not bad for $150 truck.

Re: 1958 with 1.3 original miles

I was there in the crowd of 25,000. All I can say is WOW. They guy who bought the Cameo was there. A lot of the vehicles are going to New Hampshire. There was one on-line winner from Nebraska and the crowd cheered at that. I knew I wasn't likely to get anything when the first item, a plastic wall hanging sign went for $500. The pedal car, which was in poor shape, went for $16,000. The cheapest vehicle I saw sell was the mid-70's Nova that was t-boned BAD and was basically scrap metal and a motor and that went for $500. The 63, 64, 65 new C-10's that I was interested in went for between $18,000 and $25,000. One each 75, 76, and 79 new C-20's went for $20,000 each. All of these were missing radiators and at least one piece of glass, so the interiors were rotten.

We left, drove down the road 1/2 mile and found lot with a 59 El Camino, 50 Ford convertible, Rodded 32 Ford Coupe and a 75 Vette for sale. Very nice stuff. Then we drove to Norfolk, NE as I'd heard it was a cruise-in night. There I ran into a kid who in 6 weeks got a 57 3100 back on the road. He'd put a mid 90's 4wd drive train and axles under it. He was out of Omaha and that was his first trip with the truck. Also saw a mild customized AD cruising along. And a few t-buckets, rat rods, muscle cars and restored 50's rides.

The day was crappy, but the night turned out well. I didn't go back for Sunday; we came home and worked on the old tractors.

Thanks for thinking of me, if I have 140K to spend on a old truck mine would be on the road...

I was wondering this afternoon how many were going off shore? I just sold some stuff to a guy in overseas that had be ship it to a freight office in CA, I assume to toss in the container with his other stuff.
