265 manifold/steering box

putting a 283 in a 53 1/2 ton pick up have a left side 265 manifold do i still have to move steering box

I had to move mine about 3/4" using spacers and longer bolts. The slight change did not adversely affect the drag link or steering.

thanks x, 6 cyl still in truck heard where some guys milled manifold a bit, can you still get to plugs i am just getting parts together what rear did you use any tips will be appreciated THANKS GENE

The two center plugs on the drivers side are a bear. I come up from the bottom with a box wrench. I used an 8.5" 10 bolt rear from a '76 Camaro and put it in with a CPP axle relocation kit using the original springs. I had to grind off the corner of the steering box to clear the exhaust manifold. Good luck. Best advice I have is focus on one thing at a time and complete it right before moving on. Make it steer, stop and go in that order.
