New Paint, Swirls

Had the truck painted and when I went to pick it up, it was swirl city , she looks cherry with the new paint but those swirls really kill me, told me that they polished out the paint to bring out the shine, I told him that they need a new detailer! have another month before I can work on the paint, my question is what's the best way to work out the swirls, i'm gonna give it a shot by hand, but have a DA available

Re: New Paint, Swirls

There are swirl removers that are available that should do the trick. Check at a local paint jobber and they should be able to get you headed in the right direction. After you get them out, give it about 90 days from when it was painted and get a couple good coats of wax on it. That should help.

Your truck really looks sharp in color. I have been seeing it in primer for so long I never gave color a thought. The wheels are pretty sharp, too.

Re: New Paint, Swirls

Yeah any good swirl remover will do the trick. It can be difficult if the paint isn't fully cured though so you might give it a couple of days in direct sunlight just to be sure. BTW love the color!

Re: New Paint, Swirls

I have the same wheels you have. I love them and get lots of complements on them. I think mine is the only one in my town with them. I'm still battling Wheel Vintiques trying to find trim rings for the front 15x8's. They say they're in the mail, but its been 3 weeks. I notice you are going ringless. I probably should have, but I like the ringed look and the factory ones popped right on the 15x10's on the rear, then wouldn't fit and scratched the fronts! GRRRRRRRR!!!!!

Anyway, good looking truck you have there. I'd take it back and let the one who did the swirling get the swirls out!

Reminds me of rootbeer, makes me thirsty. Needs an A&W logo on the side.

Re: New Paint, Swirls

Just wax it man. Wax alone does a good job of making that disappear

Polish would be more appropriate, wax will just cover the swirls

The rings didn't work on my 15x8's either, now I have to paint the rim
sending the rings back to Jegs.

Foam pad and dark paint polish swirl remover from 3m. But waxing has always worked just as well and keeps that much more clear on the paint.

Re: New Paint, Swirls

3M makes good stuff so does Meguiars.... I go back and forth... The 3m ultrafine polish and pad works wonders.....

On the other hand you will never be done tho.... Washing techniques is key to minimize swirls. Its a never ending process..... I only let myself was my cars.

Re: New Paint, Swirls

The truck looks great. Are you still riding on a flip kit and cut springs??? Your truck is what made me do mine the same way. I got the back done now on to the front. Did you cut 1 1/2 or 2 full coils. Sorry for straying away from the original post. But the paint is sweet.

Truck looks fantastic, excellent color choice! Are those rear tires 295s or 275s?
