Rear control arm assembly question

I have a 70 C10 short bed with a leaf spring rear suspension. I want to change it to a coil spring rear end. Anyway I was wondering if the rear control arm assembly and everything else that goes with it as far as whole spring rear suspension is the same from a long bed to a short bed. Meaning if I found a long bed at the junk yard with a rear spring suspension, can I take it off and put it on my short bed?

The answer would be "Yes you can". They are the same as far as control arm length.. You would just have to be sure and get all of the related pieces...

Thank you for that info. One more question. I installed some 4" lowering leaf springs and the truck doesn't look any lower. I noticed that the leaf spring is hitting the bed of the truck. Do you know if I need to cut something out to get it to lower the rear?

I have leaf springs as well and was wondering about swapping out to springs as well. Glad you asked this.

Do you still have your old leafs. If so you could try a flip kit and a C-Knotch. That will give you 6-7" of drop.
I suppose you could do the same with your dropped leafs as well, but you may have to do a little more than a C-Knotch.

Kind of surprised to hear your leafs are hitting, but Im also kind of new around here.

FYI the cross braces are different between coil and leaf.

Coil spring frames have the cross brace just above the rearend, with the shock attach brackets on it. Plus it has the bottom out snubber brackets you'll need as well.

And leaf trucks have cross braces on the frame in front of and in rear of the rear end. And the shock mounts are attached directly to the frame.

So you'll have to do a lot of rivet removal to get them removed. And my suggestion is that you bolt everything back on with grade 5 hardware. I suggest that you don't weld everything back in. That will make the frame to rigid and may cause some problems later on.
