windshield trim kit?

I will be replacing the windshield on my 82 k5 Blazer next week and am asking advice deciding between the chrome or black windshield trim kit. The Blazer is red in color. Thanks.

What color are the ones in the top? I would try to match those.

If you are replacing all of them, I personally prefer black. It will last longer in the sun, too.

Re: windshield trim kit?

All of the chrome plastic trim turns brown in a few weeks here in the desert. I had mine replaced with chrome last year and it is trash now. I bought a black replacement trim from LMC but have not installed it yet. Aftermarket trim is all junk, as far as I can tell.

Re: windshield trim kit?

It is totally your personal preference.

From a specifications standpoint, chrome was released for Silverado and black was Scottsdale and below.

I always ordered the Scottsdale trim level and one of the reasons was because I preferred the black windshield trim.

Re: windshield trim kit?

I also think it's personal preference unless you are trying to do a full on restoration. Personally, I would go with black for the same reasons listed above.

On a side note, Keith, I have an 84 Scottsdale Longbed that i just picked up that has the factory Chrome windshield trim. I think the Silverado - Chrome/Scottsdale - Black is the norm, but not a guarantee.

It's just like with any new car that is ordered, you can get specific updgrades on lower model trim - and sometimes the factory just adds things like Chrome windshield trim to a Scottsdale and it's an added "bonus".
