Question for the experts..please chime in!

I need a new fan Shroud and have a 72' 4x4 with AC. The question is were the fan shrouds all the same, whether or not they had AC??? Your help is greatly appreciated.

No they are not. The shrouds for an A/C truck are different than non A/C. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

Heys Guys....Guess I'm getting conflicting advise. If you go to Wes's site it shows a difference for the 2wd AC and non AC shrouds...but when you look at the 4x4 shrouds there is no notation about a difference. If you go to GMC Pauls site they show 1 shroud for the 4x4 whether it has AC or Not??? What's the real story here???

Per GM (just called and checked) there is no difference in the 4wd shrouds because the motor placement is back farther. I also have the GM ones in stock and for the board members 80.00 (normally 85.00) plus shipping.

would it work

Hey Shawn, would the 4X4 shroud work on my 2wd where the V8 was installed in the I6 position? My fan is still about 2" outside the lip of the shroud I have.

Chevydude, Shawn is correct all 4wd shroud are the same. It is the 2wd's that are different.

Scott, The 4wd shroud will work for you if your motor is set back in the 6cyl position. I have several customers running with it on there. it makes up that 2 inch differance.

dude, kill the shroud alltogether and run a dual fan setup - keeps it cool, and saves you some horsies for the road - better fuel economy too. pays for itself in the long run. - I keep mine cool with dual suckers (flexalite) and gained about 10 hp back - plus that dangerous fan is gone so I only have to worry about getting my tie sucked into the serpentine belts instead of getting my hand chopped off.
