454 exhaust manifolds

I'm in a quandary because I'm not sure what I'm looking for. My 83, 1 ton, 4speed, 4x4 has a 454bblk. Headers are on the truck now and were when I bought it. They are starting to rust through and I want to replace them with the original manifolds if I can find a set. Any pics or numbers?

Thanks.

Re: 454 exhaust manifolds

Probably an 8 digit part number.
There are several styles.
These crack so check out what you are looking at before you buy

Originals were likely:
LH - 14057190
RH - 14048362

Got them, here.

Re: 454 exhaust manifolds

I bought new Dorman band manifolds for my big block from Rockauto. Somewhere around 160 for the pair. Very good quality. Much more substantial than the original ones were and hopefully, less likely to crack. They aren't USA made, but there aren't any options that I could find otherwise.

Both of my originals had been cracked and welded some time during the past.

Re: 454 exhaust manifolds

Why not get new headers and not lose the power?

Re: 454 exhaust manifolds

If you lose the headers then will cost a bit more as will need new pipe up to both manifolds, so some shop work there, plus headers sound sooo much better and of course the power loss as mentioned.

Manifolds are quieter, don't leak as easy, and don't interfere with plug wires.

X2
These are 3 reasons why I use them.

Plus, more room to work with in the engine bay.
I still have a set of Thorleys.
I want to use them, but have yet to commit to them
One of my issues with headers is getting a long term ability to stay secured to the heads without having to constantly retighten them all of the time.
Maybe one day I will discover a cure for this.

Header lock washers. Rtv the threads and remflex gaskets big the leak you either cut them or smashed your truck. Otherwise cut them up send them to me and I will put them in my hat and eat them. if you really want to make sure...safety wire. Headers are louder cause they are thinner and flow more. Quality headers help with any issues too.

I would get those aftermarket manifolds if you really want manifolds. Factory ones crack always.

Re: 454 exhaust manifolds

These are a bit pricey but they seem to be the best of both world header flow cast looks and just something different
