Rim ID help needed
Does anyone know what year these are off if. I can't see a stamping on them and bought them for my 65. They look like they have beauty rim nubs on them which I don't recognize.

Re: Rim ID help needed
Do the faces of the rims have 3 or 4 bumps for the caps?

Re: Rim ID help needed
That would make it 71+ blazer, jimmy or 4wd rim...and some vans. I have never seen one w/beauty rim bump. I have 6 off a 73 4wd, but no beauty ring bumps. I have a buddy big in the 73-87 world....I can ask him what he knows on them.
Im guessing its a 15" rim? Edited...had to correct the date and add the van applications

Re: Rim ID help needed
What about the stampings on the outside of the rim? That'd help some. For example...These are May 1971 6 lug 4 bump here

Re: Rim ID help needed
They are 15's, I looked high and low and can't find a stamping anywhere. So they used these rims with the bump outs for the brake drum rivets until 72.

Re: Rim ID help needed
Im not 100% sure. What I was told by the 73-87 guys was the 4 bump face started in 73 and was used until around 91. And they were made for disc brakes...Ive only seen the 4 bump style like what I have, but I dont have trim ring bumps. I pulled the trim rings off my 63 6 bump rims and the trim rings fit the same, but my rings have the retainers on them, not the rims. Im not sure the make or application for the ones you have.

I am sure if they were on my 65 no one would know if they were correct or not.

Re: Rim ID help needed
I agree, I don't think that it really matters, as long as you like them. I went to the 4 bump 73 style rim because I wanted to retain my factory hubcaps and trim rings, and they clear disc brakes. The 4 bumps have a slightly longer opening on them, but its not really noticeable...and hey...I like them. Can you post a full size pic of them? Might help someone else in the future possible id them. Im interested to see it also. They might even clear disc brake calipers too.
This is what my 4 bumps look like....all painted up, just waiting to afford some wide whites to put on them.

Re: Rim ID help needed
One more note...any numbers would be stamped on the inside of the rim...you'd have to unmount the tires to see them.

Re: Rim ID help needed
The reason I went to these is because the rims I powder coated don't have the bumpouts for the rivets do they don't fit square. These ones do but they have the nubs on them that my factory suburban rim didn't have.

Re: Rim ID help needed
you could grind the heads off of the rivets also then your wheels would fit and look like the ORG. unless you pull the cap off

Re: Rim ID help needed
Yeah, I thought about that but the powder coating didn't turn out as great as I wanted anyways so I am going to have another set done somewhere else.

Re: Rim ID help needed
If they have 4 nubs they are disk brake used 71 up. If you check back side of will be square corner stamp to clear caliper. 65 will be 3 nub and back will be rounded out to edge of rim. But the 71 up wheels will fit fine. Mark

Re: Rim ID help needed
Its been my experience with NOS rims that when they have the "beauty Ring nubs" they are GMs over the counter rims. They did the same thing with car rims in the 60s and they are NOT originals, but are replacement parts. The markings will all be between the beads, not on the outside= Rim date and manufacturer. There was just 3 NOS 1960 rims on Ebay, 3 clip style and I darn near bought them till I saw the nubs on the outer edge of the rim. None of my original rims have those extra nubs. Still nice rims but not correct. Another way to identify these wheels is the valve stem hole size, larger is 63 and earlier on the 15 inch rims.

Re: Rim ID help needed
Thanks guys, we will see how long it takes at shows for the first person to notice they are over the counter rims. Any guesses, they were 10 a piece and are a matching set so I thought they would work better than the newer ones I have.
