vent window removal advice needed

I got some replacement vent windows for my truck. Im in the final stages of paint prep. I removed one of the orginal vents and it took a little more force to get out and I ended up having to bend it to get it out.

I woud like to keep both vent windows out until paint is finshed but Im worried now about having big problems getting the new ones in with out damaging something. My door windows are still in and I havnt planed on removing them. Did I just get frustrated trying to get the first one out? Is there some tricks I need to know about getting them out and the new ones in?
Thanks!

You have to remove the roll up window. (That is if you don't want to dammage) I just got through with that job. WES

Re: vent window removal advice needed

What I do is remove the rear window channel, slide door glass to the back of the door; this gives enough room to tilt the vent window back, raise it up 6-8 inches, rotate it outward and gently guide the bracket at the base of the window channel part up and out. It's hard to paint a verbal picture, but I hope this helps.

Re: vent window removal advice needed

You can leave the glass in (infact I have never been able to get the window regulator out without first removing vent window) and still do it pretty easy. It has been awhile since I have done it, but you have to lower and move back the corner of the glass that is in the way when trying to remove the vent window. I do this my removing the 3 screws that hold the vertical channel for the glass and weather striping inside the door. Then Temporarily pull the channel down and tilt the glass back and down out of the way. Then the vent window will come out with a little turning.

There may be another way to do it, but this is how I have done it.
