My build is as slow as granny gear!
Have had this 66 for 5 years. Belonged to this site for 2. Decided to use my get-around-to-it-card. Paid $1000 for this rust bucket/I can use my feet if needed, but it is mine. Has a good running 283 or 327 in it, have not looked yet. Used A arms with poly bushings and disc brakes from a 74 on it. After market 6 lug spindles/rotors, to lazy to change the rear to 5. Added power steering, new steering gear. Shortened the steering column from the 74 and used it. Of course headers and knock off Flowmaster mufflers, really does not go that fast, but sounds like it. 5 speed transmission from a Camaro with .73 final drive. Had Nightingale Transmissions put a S 10 tailshaft on. Home made cold air intake, used PVC pipe, you can laugh if you want, and a KN filter. Deep sump oil pan, got a good deal on it, did not change oil intake. HEI distributor out of something Chevy. Plan old white wagon wheels on it. Next couple weeks plan on putting on some 235/75 r16 wheels from some model I can find a good deal on. Figured I can drive 65 mph at a little over 2000 rpm. Need to figure out a speedo. Tranny had electric sender. Guess until I figure what I want to do, will put in cigarette lighter and use my old GPS. Had some pixs on an ER hard drive, can't find them. I'll take some more and get them uploaded. Would like to say I enjoy looking at others pickups, I was raised on a farm, they aren't called a truck until it hits 1 ton. 6 or half dozen, must be the same. There are some awesome trucks out there. Had a 69 Camaro in 73, my gearhead days are long gone. I really just do drivers. I use mine to go to the junkyard, to haul dirt, and when I get some good rubber on it, the 50 miles to Lowes in Wichita for remodeling supplies.
