Transmission swap
Been looking for a '67-72 to replace my great grandpas that got twisted in the April 2011 tornados. I found a '71 c10 lwb 307 3 speed. I was trying to figure out what it entails to swap out manual transmission to automatic, and what is the best fit?

Re: Transmission swap
the first would be to determine whether or not you want another 3 speed or an overdrive. The easiest would be a turbo 350. Find a similar truck in the wrecking yard and take everything you need for the swap. steering column and related linkage, x-member, driveshaft, etc.

Re: Transmission swap
One of the trucks I'm building is a 70 swb. It was a 307 3oot and now it is a 327 3oot. I think during the rebuild I'll end up with a 350 and a T-5 I have been gathering parts to do this the right way and I have a Camaro trans and a S-10 trans so I can move the shifter forward, Also I bought a high hump to put in[ not that it is needed just that I thought it would look better that way] So do a search in this site on the T-5 and read up there are quite a few that have done it and are very happy that they did, that is if you still want to shift it yourself.
