Big block starter brace
Hi, I am trying to find out if a big block starter motor brace was used in 1972 and if so, does anyone know how they were attached and the part numbers? Any response is appreciated.

Re: Big block starter brace
I have a '72 C30 w/ a 402 BB. All OE, and it never had a starter brace.
I'm guessing it's because the starter is bolted through the bell housing as well as to the block? I haven't come across it in the Factory Assembly Manual either. Keep checking your post, maybe someone else has a better answer.

Re: Big block starter brace
I just had a 70 in the shop that had a 396 out of a chevelle in it with an automatic trans we put a regular little starter bracket on it the block is tapped for a 5/16 and you can get the bracket for $7. It may not be factory for your truck but it should bolt up as long as you have a stud on your starter
Part Number 03965588 The bracket also lines up on my early model 454
