2500hd rear axle
I have a 2500hd 2wd with 6.0 and 4.10 rear. Looking to swap out rear end to 3.73 gear for fuel mileage. When looking at axles removed from trucks what codes should I be looking for and where on the housing? I believe mine is a 10.5 ring gear.

Re: 2500hd rear axle
You do have a 10.5" 14-bolt, GM used barcode stickers on GMT 800 truck axles too identify them at the plant, Are you sure they have Stamped codes on them?
4.10 to 3.73 isn't much of a change, With the heft of your truck...You Need 4.10's to tow the GCWR of your truck. If you don't tow or don't tow heavy.....You may have the wrong truck? |

Hell, Clinebarger, if people only bought vehicles because they needed them for what they were intended for, we'd end up giving in to the brits and all driving cars. I got my Duramax to be my hotrod... Almost never tow with it.
