Hey, all.

So, I'm having some starting issues...

1) I fixed the flooded carb by adjusting the floats -down-
2) Engine is getting fuel
3) Engine is getting spark (pulled plug out and turned over)
4) Tried Advancing and retarding timing while turning engine over.
5) Engine is getting air
6) engine has good compression (~140psi cly. #1)
7) Brand new Optima Red Top battery
8) Sprayed starter fluid in carb and got nothing
9) Sprayed starter fluid in cyl. #1 and got nothing

So, at this point I'm thinking my timing must so horribly off that the engine won't even give me a sputter.

When I timed the engine I set cyl. #1 at 12 deg. before TDC on compression stroke, pointed the rotor at cyl. #1, and made the terminal on the cap my #1 cyl. where the rotor was.

Sorry I don't have any photos lately. I am recording my first start attempts, so maybe I can upload those.

Dizzy was the problem. Turned that rotor 180 degrees and she fired right up! Uploading video soon.

Ordered a new timing light. Should be here today...unfortunately I have my own wedding reception be at this weekend, so timing will have to wait. Oh, darn. LOL.

In post #46 I mentioned that cylinder #1 measured about 140 PSI. Doing all the cylinders is on my list of things to do though.

I haven't posted for a while now since I've been so busy, but things are going very well!

The wiring harness has been very easy to install and I'm hoping to have it ready to start back up this weekend. I'll post photos when I can.

Everything seems to be working just fine. Lights all work, gauges work, and engine starts. Time to button everything up. This kit has been awesome and I ran into very few issues. I'd recommend American Auto Wire to anyone that wants to do this. It's really not that hard if you have the right crimpers, and second set of hands sometimes, and some dedicated time.
