WTB- 72 Hood (northeast region)
Long shot, but does anyone have a good, rust free hood around New England? Cowl or regular, doesn't matter. Just got mine painted (it was in primer when I got it) only to find there are a bunch of small dents that weren't apparent before.
Might be interested in one farther afield, but worried about shipping. Thought I would post here before ponying up $600 for a repop. |

Wish you were closer, have a nice clean hood with no rust from a '70 3/4 ton in light green medium oive. Would work for '69 thru '72. Asking $50 for it but not sure what shipping would be or how to go about doing that. Have a UPS in town but sure it would be pricey using them.

Re: WTB- 72 Hood (northeast region)
Hey Alex;
I have a 70 hood, so it would have the 2 holes in the front for the bowtie. I also believe there's a hole in the top where someone mounted a hood orniment. But from what I remember it's solid! Food for thought if you don't find something better. I can get pics if you want. If there's anything else you need maybe you should take a ride up and see what I have ! I do have a good 72 hood, but I was thinking of hanging on to that if I decided to take the cowl hood off. Gary

Re: WTB- 72 Hood (northeast region)
Kansas is a bit of a drive, and shipping makes me a bit nervous. Would you be able to package it well?
Gary, I wish I had known I needed this ahead of time! I would like to take a ride up and see your truck at some point, it looks awesome. Why would you take the cowl hood off? It looks awesome, that is what I wish I could have. What would you ask for the 70 hood? I'd definitely be interested in some pics. |

Re: WTB- 72 Hood (northeast region)
I doubt I'd ever take the cowl hood off, I love how it looks. It's more just to have the parts to bring it back to original for the next owner, and I'll probably be dead before someone else owns this truck. "LOL" So maybe I will sell the 72 hood. I'll get some pics and get back to you !
Gary

Re: WTB- 72 Hood (northeast region)
Red hood is the 70. 2 extra holes in the top rib and 2 mounting holes under bow-tie some surface rust as seen in pics.
Yellow is a 72 hood. couple of paint scrapes, a bit more surface rust on the under side than the red one, but none on top. Neither have any rust through ! Your choice $100 ea.

Re: WTB- 72 Hood (northeast region)
Looks like Custom/10 can fix you up a whole lot less pricey than shipping a hood from Kansas, LOL. The hood I have is decent with no holes or rust issues that I recall but the shipping would be a killer. I could possibly talk to our local UPS rep. but just the dimensions of the hood would really hurt not to mention the weight for that far a distance. LOTS of tape, LOTS of cardboard wrap and insure for $100 but not sure what the final cost would be. I can check into it if you would like but I would think it would be cost prohibitive.
