Inexpensive IFS for '52 3100?

After reading everything (most of which turned out to be projects that never saw completion) I'm wondering if the most inexpensive way to build an ifs would be to get a crossmember from whoever it is on these boards that fabs and sells them (Scott?) and then source the new parts from the local parts store.

Anyone know if this adds up to be more than a complete kit from one of the kit vendors?

Re: Inexpensive IFS for '52 3100?

I did a camaro clip on a street rod years ago. Easy swap to get handling and braking. The downside was remounting the front rad support and sheet metal. I see people putting Crown Vic front crossmembers in trucks now which keeps the front frame stock. A crown Vic,Gran Marquis is pretty close weight wise also. Get some measurments and check out a donor.

If you are talking the one that uses S10 parts, DON'T DO IT. I went that road and bailed on it for a Dakota frame swap. I think a Colorado frame swap would be a good one. As for a crossmember kit JW rod garage is pretty good I hear.

Speed way motors has just the crossmember for $299.
