Re: Washer Pump doesn't fit?

Got the LMC order today, it is the Anco 61-02 and mounting holes are the same as the one i got from summit (about 4 5/8 -4 3/4).

I wonder if this is a case of something like there are earlier wiper motors with different pump dimensions? I will look again tonight and see if i'm missing something dumb.

Re: Washer Pump doesn't fit?

Let me see if I can find a factory GM number in my books tonight...maybe NAPA can cross-reference it for me. I have a couple of "old school" guys here who still flip through books and not the computer.

Re: Washer Pump doesn't fit?

This part # 4919332 replaced 4912365 in the later GM parts books. If you can find this part, you'll be good. Was also used on at least Camaro, chevelle, truck models I know of.

Re: Washer Pump doesn't fit?

OK i found a part number inside the old washer pump cover, on the cover itself. One of the matches (of a billion) was the 63 corvair. So, after some sluething, anco says their 61-02 wwasher pump fits the 63 corvair also, and the 66 c10. BUT cardone shows part number 40-121 for 63 corvair wiper motor, 2 speeds, 4 terminals. 66 c10 4 terminal 2 speed wiper motor is 40-155. In the picture, they do look different. But mounting and operating, i bet they are interchangeable.

The strange part is, verified 66 c10 motors here measured like mine, which looks like it's the corvair (and a lot others) motor. Maybe some motors were a different model? There is a LOT of interchangeability with these parts!

Re: Washer Pump doesn't fit?

I had the same exact problem with mine. First have to drill a new hole to match up for the mounting screw. Then you have to remove the metal wheel and put the plastic one on. i dont know why, but when i did that it finally worked, even though like you i thought the metal would work. NOT SO.

Re: Washer Pump doesn't fit?

Scanman...i'm assuming you were able to make the smaller washer pump fit on the larger motor plate that way? When i try to put the 61-02 pump on the smaller motor plate i have, the mounting hole hands off the end, and there's no where to drill on the pump to attach it to, but i bet it could be made to work if you can.

Attached are pics of the dilemma.

Re: Washer Pump doesn't fit?

I have made a picture showing the differences in the base plate, and some sample cars cardone shows they are for. NOW, you'd think i'd just need to find a washer pump for like the corvair or early A body, but they show the 61-02 as a cross for both of those wiper motors' applications, but cardone DOESN'T show that the wiper motors interchange. So i think anco is wrong, and cardone is probably correct. What's strange is that others in this thread giving me measurements have the same motor i have? It comes down to that i need to find the smaller washer pump, or replace the motor with the larger baseplate motor.

I am curious to find that missing pump part number so we all have this information for later use. I'm still working on it.

Also, i have no idea what those "t series" trucks are.

Also, type in image, should read trucks 63-72

Re: Washer Pump doesn't fit?

I cant remember the pump size since its been over a year now. But mine is a 66 fleet and just assumed all the aftermarket pumps were the same? looks just like your new one, i even went through two of them. I'll have to look at it tonight when i get out of work to see what i did. but i do specifically remember that once i removed the metal wheel & put the plastic wheel on there was no more issues.

Re: Washer Pump doesn't fit?

Ok, i did use the Anco 61-02 pump. my kit came with an extra screw that goes through the hole directly under the base of black vaccume pump. The hole to the right of that doesn't mount to anything, just a hole. The other mounting screw is all the way to the left. The black plastic cover must be on,then reconnect wiring. should work. plastic cover puts downward pressure on the bridge over the toothed wheel, otherwise it wont grab teeth. I remembered this drove me crazy for 3 days. Good luck. Sorry no pics,New guy

Re: Washer Pump doesn't fit?

Re: Washer Pump doesn't fit?

I went out to the garage today and read your post and then emptied both boxes...and i found directions in the second box that said exactly what you said above! And yes, the gears are different so you have to switch to the nylon one. I used the spacer and that bracket hangs over the edge and seems to fit fine. So, above we have the early and later style wiper motors, the original OEM part numbers for pumps for the purists and restorers, and know that the 61-02 will fit either type. If nothing else i guess i learned a lot about wiper motor/washer pump applications. I wish i had just called anco to complain and they would have likely told me what i was doing wrong.

Attached is a pic showing the spacer, and thanks again everyone for the measurements, info, photos, research, and pointing me in the right direction!
