292 water pump hub heights

Hey all,

Working on my 1964 C10 292. It has the original early 1" bypass pump. For various reasons, I need a pump to get me 1600 miles across the country where I can have that early pump rebuilt. Can't seem to find a 65-73 thermostat housing to switch to the later 1 1/4" bypass hose, so, I'm wondering if anyone knows if the later 75-77 water pump shares the same hub height, and fan bolt pattern as the earlier 292s. I'm looking to run the 75-77 pump to get me by for now, and I don't have much time to find the parts I need. I know that pump doesn't have the bypass hose, Im just hoping to "get by" for a couple thousand miles.

Let me simplify that:

Anyone know if the:
1975-1977 292 water pumps have the same hub height, and fan bolt pattern as the 1964-1973ish 292 water pumps?

Thanks!

Re: 292 water pump hub heights

They are different heights. The pulley/fan pattern are the same.

That's what I was afraid of. They had went to the shallower pulleys by then hadn't they? Dang....

Thanks for the information man.

Re: 292 water pump hub heights

In 1963-1964 the 292 had the same height and size pump. In 65-88 they changed to a different size and were the same in all those years as far as I know. I'll go and look, i own a 64 also with a 292. As well as a 66 and 84. As far as I could tell the 66 and the 84 had the same style pump.
