Gas in oil

Well I checked my oil this morning and I strong gas smell. I put a a new mechanical fuel pump in July. I have a new edelbrock on my 250 I had it sent back due to flooding high idle and band choke linkage so I put it on two weeks ago it's been running great. No I'm really worried about the smell in my oil. I know I'm do for oil change

You have already mentioned the two most likely sources, bad engine mounted fuel pump and a leaky carb. It is possible the gas is left over from the earlier carb or pump issues. Do you have a working PVC system? One of its functions is to pull unburnt gas out of the crankcase and back into the intake.

I would change the oil so you know any gas from previous issues is gone and just frequently check the oil for new gas.

Edelbrock says 6 to 6.5 max pressure. Real world says 5 psi.
Look in the carb while it's up to operating temperature. Shouldn't see any raw fuel, not even a drip.
If you do see fuel you'll need a regulator.
In fact it's safer to put a reg on anyway. Only 30 bucks compared to a motor rebuild from washed cylinders.

Change you oil and filter.
Keep an eye on the level and smell.
My 250 likes no more than 3 1/2 psi, any more and it wants to flood and run rich. How big is your carb? Remeber these things like a small carb for street driving, anything over 500 is bad and hard to tune. 350 is best.
Do you have heat on the bottom of the intake? if not you will get fuel puddling and can wash down the cylinders.
