Re: Help identifying a camshaft

What year engine and what did it come out of. Engine casting numbers and head casting numbers.

All will help narrowing down the cam

Re: Help identifying a camshaft

Its out of a 1974 chevy pickup it had centerbolt valve covers on it from a tbi truck so im assuming its got tbi heads on it, the block is a drivers side dipstick 010 4 bolt 350 block, steel crankshaft (eagle) 2 piece rear main seal the pistons were .030 overbore TRW flat tops and it had a erson gear drive in it. As for casting #s its not a oem original engine so im asuming its not a oem original camshaft. Most camshafts have identifying marks on the end of it, this cam has 7274 WB on it. Im hoping someone has experience in cam shafts and can help me with this because im not looking forward to figuring it out with a mic, and a degree wheel. Lol o yea it also had a cheater N.O.S.kit on it.

I hope the info helps

Re: Help identifying a camshaft

Cam look old? Think you can guess when the engine was rebuilt? Trw pistons were the **** back in the day. Not a lot of people running the specifically any more as well as erson stuff since that's just about gone. It's possible it was an erson camshaft and had a kit with lifters and timing gear.

Re: Help identifying a camshaft

Yah makes it hard to find out then. Factor cam will be small. Very small. 1974 didn't have any high hp engines

Re: Help identifying a camshaft

I didn't think factory cams had any markings on them. It must be aftermarket. I guess you can hope somebody here has replaced a lot of cams and may have a clue of what it is. bump for ya.

Re: Help identifying a camshaft

Factory cams have part numbers.

Possible it may be a custom grind from a mom and pop shop of sorts.
