Need Some Parts: Vendor Recommendations? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I've been looking around and have found a few sources for some stuff I'm looking for, but I just thought I'd put it out there and see where you guys have gotten this stuff from.

I need headlights (bucket, lens, everything), tail lights, and a full glass kit all for a 1950 3 window 1/2 ton.

I've found a lot of halogen headlight assemblies, but I'd rather go conventional. I'm looking for original looking stuff.

order as much as you can at a time, shipping can add up quickly

Just a word of caution: runpasthefence, I see you're in SC. For some reason shipments from West Coast to East Coast via UPS are a LOT more than the other way around. No fault of Brothers (based in CA), but be sure to check the shipping charges before you pull the trigger. Thanks for the heads-up. I went through that recently when buying bedsides.

I think the most frustrating thing is I've yet to find an individual vendor that carries everything I need for this order and has it in stock. Either that, or their descriptions/pictures are so poor you don't know exactly what you're getting.

Minor problems in the grand scheme of things. I'm just glad to be rolling again on this project. I can't wait to show her off in the picture thread.

to add to 63&64bowties comment. seems a lot of vendors make a lot off of shipping and handling fees. i've found that the more you order the less you will pay on shipping. i try to keep a list and order a lot at one time. forgetting one small item hurts in shipping cost. ordering a lot is hard on the wallet, but it saves a lot of money.

You might try Obselete Chevy Parts in Nashville, Georgia. They are nice to deal with and the shipping would be cheaper than from the West coast. Also, Bow Tie Bits in Kansas is another source for parts. I've had good dealings with most of the vendors already listed but I try to use those closest to me because of the shipping charges. Most of the parts come from the same source so quality doesn't seem to vary regardless of where you buy them.

How about quality differences between the vendors. For instance, I'm going to need a couple patch panels.
Do they all come from the same manufacturer?
Are some using ticker/thinner material than others? Do some have fitment issues over others?
