hydro boost?
Has anybody done the hydro on a 67 to 72? Mine is ripe as the p/s pump is a hydro from that era with a blocked off hose that would go to the hydro boost. I heard there are conversion kits but they are expensive as hell. I replaced the one on my 2001 and it was half the price. Not sure about mounting. Thanks and cheers!

Re: hydro boost?
I did. I used a Tallon Hydraulics adapter plate to mount to the firewall. Wouldn't do it if you have a shifter cable from Lokar, the hydraboost interferes with in the position originally used by the adapter plate. I modified my plate by filing off the lock tab and rotating the hydraboost back to original orientation. filing a groove for a lock key to keep the hydraboost from rotating. I used 73-85 diesel pickup with hydraboost hoses and modified the end to the steering gear box. Put a flare nut with a flare on it to mate to the 68 C20 steering box. All other hoses fit with minor bending. I used a 85 power disk/drum brake master cylinder. Had to cut and weld on a homemade shackle to the hydraboost piston rod with a threaded extension that mates to my brake pedal. You might be better off using CaptainFabs booster bracket and adapter. My hydraboost got from a 2004 2500 GMC at junk yard. Its leaking power steering fluid now. So will have to pull and rebuild soon. Will get some pics tomorrow if I can remember. Good luck with yours. Jim

Re: hydro boost?
I happen to have a unit from a 93 Suburban 2500 complete that I'll willing to let go of. PM me to discuss

Quote:
For some good reading type the words "hydroboost" into the GOOGLE search box at the top of this page, click on the circle in front of "67-72chevytrucks.com" and click on the GOOGLE button. You will find lots of threads on the subject. Just make sure the thread you are looking at refers to your style of truck. (Hits will include all years) After you read through all of those threads then type in "Hydraboost" and you can read a bunch more... LockDoc

Re: hydro boost?
I took a Hydro, front crossmember, control arms and disc brakes off of an 80's diesel (5x5 bolt pattern) and bolted it all right up. Took the rear end too and removed the old spring setup and made it work with my trailing arm setup. Might be able to find a junked truck to pull it off like we did.

Re: hydro boost?
Lot's of good info here in this thread. I like the kit with everything from BROTHERS but it's spendy. I'll check out the suggestions listed and go from there. That stock hydro setup on my 2001 burb and 2500 truck are awesome and it would be a shame not to put it on the old yeller.

Re: hydro boost?
The hardest part of the job was disconnecting the brake pedal rod between the vacuum booster and firewall. And getting my fat head up under the dash to see the brake pedal . As stated in prior post. If you can find a donor with all the bake components, pumps, hoses ... from 73-85 it makes it real easy. Good luck with yours. Jim
