Which six? Help!
Got a guy I'm trying to help put his '64 4X4 back in running condition. He lives in the woods with no power or phone, and is basically unreachable except by foot. Based upon a verbal description only, his FOUR BLADE fan went forward into his radiator awhile back, destroying both. I'm helping him by finding a radiator and fan blade but I don't know what size six he has, unless the four blade fan tells me it's a 230. I found a good radiator and fan in the parts section here out of a 292, but the fan has five blades. Can I assume the five bladed fan is a 292 thing, and neither the big rad or fan will be a direct fit? Thanks for your help.

Re: Which six? Help!
The 292 used the same style radiator as the v8. So the mounts are different than the 230 & 250. Im unsure on the fan.

Re: Which six? Help!
The 5 blade fan is from an Air Conditioned truck or heavy duty cooling without AC and will fit ALL six cylinder and V8. The radiator from an AC truck might be a 4 core with wide ( front to back ) tanks and unless that's what he has , will have trouble with mounting as the mounting U shaped brackets are wider on the frame and on the top clamp, also the rubber is wider. Check it against you 66 CC truck to see if its the wider tanks.

Re: Which six? Help!
This is a factory 65 4x4 230 six and radiator, same as the standard V8 . Ive never seen a 4x4 with the real small radiator with the spacer that pushes the radiator closer to the fan ....yet that is.

Re: Which six? Help!
The only info or reference I have at this time is: 1964, six cyl, with four blade fan. No photos, and I can't call the owner to ask simple questions. Do I just need more info before moving forward? (means a hike into the mountains).

Re: Which six? Help!
Its pretty safe to say, being that it is a 4 blade fan originally, that the truck in question does NOT have heavy duty cooling. So the 4 core AC radiator is not going to fit unless you change upper and lower mounting. The 5 blade fan will but is worth way more than a 4 blade. I have the fan blade here if you need one, good used. I will post pictures of both the blades

Re: Which six? Help!
first picture is the factory 5 blade AC or Heavy duty cooling fan blade that's on three of my 292 trucks, one with AC. The second and third pictures are an original 1964 230 six fan blade. Pretty standard blade.

Re: Which six? Help!
ive got the oiginal 230 in my 63 w/the 4 blade fan and it came stock w/the radiator pictured above in post 4. I have since gone to a larger radiator that uses the v8 style mount.
