Are these new or Used???
Hey I'm a rookie and am currently working on my first hands on project with my 67 so this may seem extraordinarily simple of a thing to some of you but I simply don't know the answers to some of the questions I'll be asking in the next couple threads...so please cut me some slack.
With that said, I had hoped some of you guys could help me in deciphering whether or not these cab cushions are in fact possibly unused or used. I bought my c10 in april and have a crap load of NOS and good conditioned parts that were included in the sale. I intend on putting a lot of them up for sale on here next week once I become a premium member but until then, I had a couple questions. What would you say about these Cushions based on the pics? I have 4 NOS boxes of them...1 is unopened so there's no doubt there but 3 were opened and look like this. |

Re: Are these new or Used???
i saw a pair of lower cushions for an 80 that were in worse condition than these that were in fact Unused NOS which is what led me to believe that these were in fact possibly just opened un-used parts.
ALSO, I have a nice cab that was included in the sale that was to be put on after sandblasting was finished so I would assume they were purchased and intended for use AFTER the installation of the better cab. The guy I bought it from was a military helicopter mechanic and took this crap serious and compiled a slew of parts for the project. Last edited by dormat13; 11-02-2013 at 12:59 AM. Re: Are these new or Used???
They look new unused to me. Funny how NOS parts "age" while sitting!
I have replace 4 sets of cab mounts in the last 15 years, but I used new aftermarket sets from LMC. I would think those would be just fine and might even last longer than aftermarket sets. Good find. ![]() John

Re: Are these new or Used???
They look like N.O.S. to me. Things age whether put to use or left on a shelf. The steel is just raw,so airborne moisture will eventually start the rust. They show no evidence of being compressed or any metal to metal contact from the bolts. I'll add to what you've surmised. If they're used they sure are in great shape,so where did the boxes come from? Why would someone replace such excellent parts with new? People can be freaks about perfection, but these "are" perfect. If they had been installed the entire surface of the steel would be oxidized. It doesn't really take long for the rubber to crack when compressed and absorbing movement.

Re: Are these new or Used???
Now you went and did it. This new feller will get his hand slapped and his thread closed. When I saw him mention wanting to sell, once legit,I wondered how long this would take.

Just to be clear, you did nothing wrong and I'm sure it will be seen that way. I didn't mean you'd be punished, just a figure of speech. Welcome to the subscriber's club!
