Re: How many of us are "taking a break?"

Since winter up here is about 8 months long, I have no choice to work on my crap... really its not that bad, I enjoy my shop, heat and all.. Going to pick up the project for this winter today, 57 Belaire that will be getting full pro touring suspension from Scotts, LS9 to push it around, and a few of the other creature comforts that a 56 year old car needs...

Unfortunately my Blazer will have to wait a little bit..

Enjoy the winter!!!! Little snow flying here today.

Re: How many of us are "taking a break?"

As far as driving in the winter, yeah,my trucks get a break to keep away from salt. But,I live on a country road that seems to be about the last one in the county to get plowed, then salted (the road is the county line). So,I've been known to go play in the fresh snow. When the road has been drifted over,I have gone out and busted through so others could get out. It's my duty as an American citizen, right?

I take a break only because it's hunting season, I just don't have the money to do both!

Yep! I had three and the 3rd one not shown I had first (but not my 1st K/20). That's the one I busted through drifts with. It was b.A. double D. BADD! i live on Buffalo Rd. and black angle is a mile north. It's one of the last dirt roads around here that follows the creek through the hollow. About 100 yds south is Old west Falls Rd. which is another dirt road. I feel very privileged!

Thanks! The heaters work great cool:. My good friend has the blue & white one now. It's in good hands...and not too far. I've even borrowed it a few times
Here are a couple more from Black Ankle Rd.:

That was Dec/09 and was 18". That's a big early snow for here. Later that winter in Feb/10 we got a 3' snow, then a day after it stopped, another 2 1/2'. There was 5' on the ground. I think since then we've only had a few snows, none over a few inches. The next snow was October '11 when we had 4" of wet snow (would have been deeper if freezing) before the leaves even changed color, then nothing all winter

Re: How many of us are "taking a break?"

Well, the cruising and car show season is done in New England, so the 69'er gets a long deserved break after 85 shows this year and 85 last year. She might come out a time or two in the winter if the roads are in good shape, but in the meantime, she'll get new front springs and Bilstein shocks all the way around. She'll be back out for sure in the beginning of March for a big indoor show in Massachusetts.

Wooboooy! That white stuff is pretty but I'm sure glad I live down south where we don't get anywhere near that much.

Here in southern TN I can't really use "winter" as an excuse for not getting anything done! We'll see if I can actually accomplish anything on mine. I have a few car projects going right now.

In my opinion it's never a break its a slow down. You buy what you need and do small tinkering projects

Re: How many of us are "taking a break?"

I would be building away at mine but gotta put priorities first sure I'll get some new P225 and 235 75 r15's for my C/10 but a new dd is more important to me right now than getting my C/10 done

Re: How many of us are "taking a break?"

I'll probably spend more time working on it now. Snow means less driving it, so now when I will be doing things like my suspension work, anything that will take it off the road for a bit. Not that I have any huge plans but I have some stuff to do.

I gotta ask,how the heck do you do 85 shows in 8 months? Just curious. But,by what the author of this post is asking,it sounds like your answer is no,you're not taking a break from working on your truck.

I just thought of some things I'll be doing, for sure, this winter on my '72. Engine work, either head gaskets or build another engine and install. I'm thinking I'll do the work on the engine that's in it now,and soon, and beyond that is a wait and see on the money situation. Once that's done the lift kit goes under it along with a swap to an HO52. I'm thinking to hold off on the Dana60 up front for a while (or never). If I install another engine, then I have a TH400/NP205 combo to replace the original TH350/NP205. So,no break for me

Is anyone in the same boat?
Does running out of money to finish up right now due to loss of job count as a break? I will get back to her but some things come first. :-)

Re: How many of us are "taking a break?"

I'm always on and off again. My cars and trucks are just hobby stuff and a lot of times I just don't feel like messing with them. Might actually get to the panel some this winter. My unibody is almost back on the road and my nephews are asking if they can help with the panel too.

As for sicklajoie going to 85 shows ... holly cow!!!! Ive barely gone to any shows in the last several years. The only car related thing I try to make every year is Speed Week at the salt flats.

Re: How many of us are "taking a break?"

No winters in this part of the country. A little electric heater is nice for when it gets below 45, but thats not very often except at night. Im going to build a 6 foot extension onto my 20x24 garage this year for a little extra space. Its a lot nicer in the winter, as its usually over 100 in there most of the summer. I'd much rather have cool than hot.

After that show in March, the real season doesn't start till the end of April, so from then till October is 6 months.
I sent you a PM with a link to all the picture albums from all the shows I've done the past 3 years.

Gotcha! It sure deserves to be so "well shown". Turns out it's just a difference in what I consider a show. No biggie, just sparked my curiosity and had to ask. thanks for the link!
