454 into c10
Just built my 454, wondering if anyone has swapped between a 350 to 454, and what engine mounts you used? thanks!

I thought the stands were the same, but the mounts sometimes were thinner for big blocks.

the 350 mounts can hold all that extra torque? i figured 550+ ft/lbs would require something a bit stronger, at least factory 454 mounts?

Are you or did you change the front coil springs? The extra weight from that big block will lower your front end for you. I know.

Look up lakewood motor mounts they are stock style but a little stiffer.

yes i am switching from 2" drop springs to 1" drop springs, i figure that should be enough. and ok ill look into them thanks!

In my experience, the two are close, but the bases will need to be adjusted a little to get them to line up. (slot holes)

big block mounts are different, not a direct bolt up with a small block.

Build was pretty simple. I started off with a 4 bolt 1 piece rear main seal 92 gen-v 454 block. First thing i did was throw out the boat anchor peanut port heads, then got some gm performance vortec heads that I then had ported and new oversized valves. I went with flat top pistons with single valve relief that should bring close to 10:1 compression matched with the new heads. Used a comp 11-242-3 cam. Edelbrock performer rpm intake and edelbrock 750 carb. Thats the most basic description of the build, also had cloys dual roller timing chain, comp lifters and push rods, and comp roller rockers. CamQuest suggests this set up will bring 535hp@5000rpm, 587ft/lbs@4000rpm… and look at that torque average. from 1000 too 6500 rpm its above 410ft/lbs. Im very impressed i cannot wait to drive this thing.
