Engine trans and rear end ID?
OK So I decided to go out and find out what engine is in my old truck. I took the numbers off the block and that is where it has ended. Can anyone tell me what engine this is?
First row of numbers V0609UMF Second Row of Numbers PGS529751 Any idea what this engine really is? I was told that it was a GM Replacement engine from the guy I bought it from that was supposed to be from 1984. Honestly it looks much older than that. No Acces. bolt holes in front of the heads, and Alt bracket off the drivers side exhaust manifold. The dipstick is on the passenger side. Also is anyone good at identifying the trans and rear diff in these old trucks? Just wondering how much of this thing is original, and how much has been replaced. Here is the picture of the Sticker in the glove box. Here are a couple pictures of the rear end And here is a picture of the Transmission |

Re: Engine trans and rear end ID?
The rear end is a Eaton H052, the trans. is a Muncie SM465, the engine block having the dipstick on the pass. side is accurate for a 85'. The fact that the heads don't have any accessory bolt holes probably mean they came off the original block. If the truck is a 67 it would have had a 283, therefore "Power Pack" heads. If a 68, 327 and "Camel Humps". Sorry don't know the numbers but there are several sites with decode. Just punch in SBC casting numbers into Google.
