meguiars cleaner wax???
My truck is in the original paint from 1969, has some stains , oxidation etc, im leaving the paint, but was curious if this is something I should use on the entire truck???its my first old vehicle im leaving the patina in place so figured id make sure before I go messing it up
In the pics you can kinda see some of the discoloration, almost a haziness Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: meguiars cleaner wax???
Good stuff, I've used it for over 20 years now and never had an issue. I started using it when I worked at a detail shop in N.C., it was all they used unless we did a rubbing compound. Then we would use their 3 step combo after the compound. If you really want it to shine, go with the 3 step.

Re: meguiars cleaner wax???
+1 on the cleaner wax, you'll love it.
Also, you'll get better/faster results with one of those $30 "wiggler/vibrating" type polishers from the parts store. (A real 'buffer' takes good tecnique and would probably remove too much paint for your intent.)

Re: meguiars cleaner wax???
I like Maguire’s cleaner wax, but try 3M rubbing compound to really get off some of that oxidation/discoloration. Pic below of doors and hood are right after using 3M....that is original paint!!

Try Color Back made by Turtle Wax
Turtle Wax T-270R1 1-Step Color Back Oxidation... This is by far the best product ever made by Turtle Wax. It doesn't require a ton of elbow grease. Just several towels. Just rub it on and then rub it right back off. It will clean ALL of the oxidation off and will leave your original paint looking great. It really is amazing how fast and easy this stuff works. You will have to wax your truck right after using this. |

Re: meguiars cleaner wax???
Man I could have this truck shine in two days if you were near by, Here is a link to remove as little paint as possible to rejuvenate the single stage factory finish. It works I did my '61 Bubbletop last weekend. And a cool green metallic '73 Buick the week before. The cleaner wax will take forever with what you have. A pro with a foam pad and 3M #6065 could quickly graze the surface you have. Then rub in by hand Meguiers #7 glaze, several times leaving on overnight. The video is priceless.
