Re: Gas Tank Capacity
The fact is,there was only one size tank in all these trucks and they are 21 gallons. I can't explain why some have taken much less when the tank was thought to be empty. If those unable to put nearly that much in really want to get to the bottom of this (get it?) you should try draining your tank dry, then fill it up. You can drain from the outlet line, but there will still be fuel in there. With the cap on,you can use compressed air to pressurize the tank to purge more, but an unknown amount will still remain. The best way is remove the tank so you can completely drain it by moving it around as needed

Re: Gas Tank Capacity
It'll take 21 Gallons, but the first time you turn hard to the right, like and on-ramp to the expressway, gas will come out of the filler neck. I've learned to stop filling at no more than 17-18 gallons when on a longer drives. Around town I stop when the needle hits full (About 15-16 gals). The Liquid Gold is too valuable to splash out the filler neck into the air.

Re: Gas Tank Capacity
If they hold 21 gallons than I am making out like a bandit at the pump. Been bone dry dead outta gas and pump says only 13 gallons...so maybe I'm getting like 8 gallons for free!!! Woo hoo!!!
Seriously though, in the grand scheme of my life I really don't care how much they hold.

Re: Gas Tank Capacity
Because by the time you figure out how much it holds...it needs to be filled again

Re: Gas Tank Capacity
No "if" to it. They are 21 gallon.

Re: Gas Tank Capacity
Hi Vince, long time no see. The only real way to pull off what your trying to is to run it dry (carry a gallon or two) and then fill it up and see what it takes. As this thread illustrates they are all different. When I fist got mine it ran out at 1/4 tank and took 19 gallons to fill. Now I fill up at 1/2 tank and usually takes 14-15. Works fine for me. Lee

Hey Lee, hope to see you on the 24th at Legends. Randy said the same thing about the extra gallon and run out. I have filled it up from empty before. Thats why I asked because I saw in cab replacement tanks at 21 gallons. Figured that was an upgrade since mine did not hold as much. Had not planned on ruffling a few feathers on this subject, just wondered what size we had. Obviously my tank has a few issues for whatever reason. |
